Endosomal sorting
Endosomal sorting is a cellular process that manages how proteins and other molecules are directed inside the cell. When materials like worn-out receptors are taken into the cell, they are enclosed in small sacs called endosomes. The endosomes sort these materials: some are sent to be recycled back to the cell surface, while others are marked for destruction and sent to the lysosome to be broken down. This system helps the cell regulate its components, maintain balance, and respond efficiently to environmental changes.
