Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy (ETS)
Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy (ETS) is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to reduce excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) or treat certain nerve-related conditions. Surgeons make small chest incisions and insert a camera and tools to cut or clamp specific nerve pathways in the sympathetic nervous system responsible for sweating or blood flow regulation. By interrupting these nerves, ETS can significantly decrease sweating in targeted areas like the hands or face. The procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia, with the goal of improving quality of life for patients with severe, treatment-resistant symptoms.
