Endoscopic Band Ligation

Endoscopic Band Ligation is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat enlarged or bleeding blood vessels in the digestive tract, often around the esophagus. During the procedure, a thin tube called an endoscope is inserted through the mouth to view the affected area. A small elastic band is then placed around the problematic blood vessel or tissue, cutting off its blood supply. This causes the vessel to shrink and reduces bleeding or prevents future bleeding. The procedure is quick, effective, and usually performed under sedation, offering a safe way to manage conditions like variceal bleeding.
