Endometrial receptivity
Endometrial receptivity refers to the state of the lining of the uterus (endometrium) when it is optimally prepared for a fertilized egg to implant successfully. This window of readiness usually occurs around the middle of the menstrual cycle. During this time, the endometrium undergoes specific changes in its tissue and blood vessels, creating a nourishing environment. Proper receptivity is essential for pregnancy to occur naturally or through assisted reproductive techniques. If the endometrium is not receptive, even a healthy embryo may not attach, reducing the chances of conception.
