Endeavour (HMS Endeavour)
HMS Endeavour was a British Royal Navy research vessel most famous for transporting explorer James Cook on his first voyage of discovery from 1768 to 1771. The ship, originally named Earl of Pembroke, was rebuilt as a sturdy, versatile sailing vessel designed for long sea journeys. During the voyage, it charted unknown territories, including parts of Australia and New Zealand, significantly expanding European knowledge of the Pacific. The Endeavour's successful expedition helped lay the groundwork for future scientific exploration and is celebrated for its role in advancing navigation, geography, and natural sciences.
