Enactive Cognition
Enactive cognition is a concept that suggests our understanding and knowledge of the world are shaped through active engagement and interaction with our environment. Instead of passively receiving information, we learn and make sense of things by doing, perceiving, and responding. Our perceptions are influenced by our actions, and in turn, our actions are guided by what we perceive. This ongoing loop means cognition is embodied and context-dependent, emphasizing that thinking and understanding emerge through dynamic, real-time experiences rather than solely from internal mental processes or stored information.
