Employment Equity Act

The Employment Equity Act is a law designed to promote fairness and equal opportunity in the workplace. It encourages employers to identify and eliminate barriers that may prevent certain groups—such as women, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, and visible minorities—from obtaining and advancing in employment. The goal is to create workplaces where everyone has an equal chance to succeed, reflecting the diversity of society. Employers are required to develop and implement plans to improve representation and bring about a more inclusive work environment.
