Emperor Yang of Sui

Emperor Yang of Sui was the second and final emperor of the Sui Dynasty in China, reigning from 604 to 618 AD. He is known for ambitious projects, including the Grand Canal, which connected the Yellow and Yangtze rivers, boosting trade and agriculture. However, his extravagant spending and heavy taxation led to widespread discontent among the populace. His military campaigns against Korea were unsuccessful, further straining resources. These factors contributed to uprisings that ultimately led to the downfall of the Sui Dynasty and paved the way for the Tang Dynasty, which followed.
