Emmeline B. Wells (suffragist)

Emmeline B. Wells was a prominent American journalist, editor, and leader within the women's suffrage movement, particularly advocating for women’s right to vote. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) and used her platform to promote equality and social reforms. As editor of the Woman's Exponent, she influentially supported women’s education, employment, and political rights. Her efforts contributed significantly to Utah women gaining suffrage in 1870 and played a crucial role in advancing women’s rights within her community and beyond.
