Emergent property

An emergent property is a characteristic or behavior that arises from the interactions of simpler elements within a system, which cannot be predicted just by examining those individual parts. For example, consciousness emerges from the complex interactions of neurons in the brain, even though individual neurons do not have consciousness. These properties are a result of the collective organization and dynamics of the system, revealing new qualities at a higher level that are not present in the components alone.
