Emergency cardiovascular care (ECC)
Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) involves rapid assessment, treatment, and management of people experiencing life-threatening heart or blood vessel problems, such as heart attacks or sudden cardiac arrest. The goal is to restore blood flow, support vital functions, and improve survival chances. ECC includes techniques like CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), defibrillation, advanced airway management, and medications. It relies on trained responders, often healthcare professionals or well-informed laypeople, intervening quickly to stabilize the patient until further medical treatment is available. Proper ECC can significantly increase the chances of survival and reduce long-term complications.
