Emergency Broadcast System

The Emergency Broadcast System (EBS) was a nationwide alert system in the United States designed to deliver urgent messages during emergencies such as natural disasters, national security threats, or other crises. It could interrupt regular radio and television broadcasts to instantly inform the public about dangers and necessary actions. The system aimed to swiftly reach as many people as possible to ensure safety and coordination. EBS was later replaced by the Emergency Alert System (EAS) in 1997, which continues to serve this purpose today with enhanced technology and wider communication capabilities.
