Eloi
The Eloi are one of the three groups in H.G. Wells’ novel "The Time Machine." They are portrayed as gentle, childlike people living in a peaceful, utopian society on the surface of a distant future Earth. The Eloi enjoy leisure and comfort but lack curiosity, intelligence, and practical skills, making them vulnerable. Their society has devolved from humanity’s past, reflecting a loss of complexity and struggle, which contrasts with their counterparts, the Morlocks, who are more industrial and have adapted to underground life. The Eloi symbolize a potential future where comfort has led to intellectual decline.
