ELISPOT
ELISPOT (Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSpot) is a laboratory technique used to detect and measure individual immune cells that produce specific proteins, like cytokines or antibodies. It involves placing cells in a special plate coated with an antibody that captures the target protein. When the cells release these proteins, they are captured nearby, creating visible spots after the addition of detection reagents. Each spot represents a single cell producing that protein, allowing researchers to quantify and analyze immune responses at a very detailed level. ELISPOT is valuable in vaccine research, disease monitoring, and immunotherapy development.
