Eleven Plus

The Eleven Plus is an academic examination traditionally used in the UK to assess whether a student is suitable for entry into selective secondary schools, often called grammar schools. Typically taken at age 11, the test evaluates skills in areas such as reasoning, mathematics, verbal, and non-verbal abilities. Its purpose is to identify students with strong academic potential and to help determine access to schools offering a more challenging curriculum. While its use has declined in some areas, the Eleven Plus remains a key part of the selective education system in regions where it is still administered.
