Elephant Seal

The elephant seal is a large marine mammal known for its impressive size and strong, trunk-like nose, especially in males. These seals spend most of their lives at sea, coming ashore mainly to breed and molt. They are excellent divers, capable of diving over 1,500 meters deep and staying underwater for more than two hours. Elephant seals feed primarily on fish and squid, and their populations are found along the coasts of North America and South Africa. They are known for their social behavior during breeding seasons, where males compete for access to females in large colonies.
