Electroretinography (ERG)
Electroretinography (ERG) is a diagnostic test used to assess the electrical activity of the retina, the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye. During the procedure, small electrodes are placed on the eye's surface or eyelids while the patient looks at a flashing light. The test measures how the retina responds to light stimuli, helping to identify retinal disorders, such as retinitis pigmentosa or macular degeneration. By recording these responses, healthcare professionals can gain valuable insights into the health and functioning of the retina, aiding in the diagnosis and management of eye conditions.
