Electroretinogram
An electroretinogram (ERG) is a test that measures the electrical activity of the retina, the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye, in response to light stimuli. During the test, small electrodes are placed on the eye or nearby skin to detect the electrical signals generated when the retina processes visual information. These signals help doctors assess the function of different retinal cells, identify issues like degenerative diseases, and evaluate overall eye health. ERGs are valuable tools for diagnosing and managing conditions that affect sight without invasive procedures.
