Electronic Article Surveillance
Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) is a theft prevention system used in retail stores. It involves attaching small, invisible tags or labels to merchandise. When a customer tries to leave the store with unpaid items, sensors at the exit detect the tags and trigger an alarm. These tags are designed to be easily removed or deactivated at checkout once the purchase is complete. EAS helps reduce shoplifting by alerting staff to potential theft, ensuring products are securely protected while allowing legitimate customers to shop freely.
