Electrodialysis
Electrodialysis is a water purification process that uses electricity and special membranes to remove salts and impurities. When electrical current is applied across the water, charged membranes attract and separate ions (charged particles) — with positively charged ions moving toward the negative electrode and negatively charged ions toward the positive electrode. This movement separates pure water from dissolved salts and minerals. Electrodialysis is energy-efficient and commonly used for desalinating brackish water, producing ultrapure water, and softening water for industrial and commercial use.
