Electrocochleography
Electrocochleography (ECOG) is a diagnostic test that measures electrical signals generated by the inner ear (cochlea) in response to sound. Small electrodes placed near or on the eardrum detect these signals, helping doctors assess how well the inner ear and hearing nerves are functioning. ECOG is often used to diagnose and evaluate conditions like Meniere’s disease, which affects balance and hearing. The procedure is quick and non-invasive, providing valuable information about the health of the auditory system to guide treatment decisions.
