Electors
Electors are members of the Electoral College, a group responsible for formally selecting the President and Vice President of the United States. When people vote in a presidential election, they are actually choosing a slate of electors appointed by their party in each state. These electors then meet and cast official votes based on the election results in their state. The total electoral votes determine the outcome; a candidate needs a majority to win the presidency. Electors serve as a link between the popular vote and the official election of the President.
