Eleazar Wheelock

Eleazar Wheelock was an American minister and educator in the 18th century, best known for founding Dartmouth College in New Hampshire in 1769. He aimed to provide higher education and Christian instruction, especially for Native Americans and colonists. Wheelock believed in combining religious training with academic learning to promote moral and spiritual development. His efforts contributed significantly to the growth of higher education in the United States, and Dartmouth College remains one of the country's oldest and most respected institutions.
