Eleatic School
The Eleatic School was an ancient Greek philosophical group, active around the 5th century BCE, known for their focus on the nature of reality and being. They believed that true reality is unchanging, eternal, and only one thing—often identified as "Being." They argued that change and motion are illusions, because things that change would not be truly real. Prominent members like Parmenides emphasized that only "Being" exists and that our senses can deceive us, encouraging a focus on rational thought and logical reasoning to understand the universe. Their ideas influenced the development of metaphysics and Western philosophy.
