ejidatarios

Ejidatarios are members of a Mexican community landholding system called an ejido, established after land reforms. They have legal rights to cultivate and use designated plots of land collectively owned by the ejido, which is managed for communal benefit. Each ejidatario typically has a specified land share and participates in decision-making about the ejido’s affairs. This system aims to promote rural development, sustain agricultural practices, and preserve communal land rights. While the land remains owned by the community, ejidatarios have legal use rights, balancing individual farm activities with collective governance.
