Ejército Guerrillero de los Pobres
Ejército Guerrillero de los Pobres (EGP) is a Marxist-Leninist guerrilla group in Guatemala that operated from the 1970s to the early 1990s. It was formed by peasants and workers aiming to combat social injustice, poverty, and government repression through armed struggle. The group sought to challenge the political and economic systems that marginalized indigenous and rural populations, often engaging in guerrilla tactics and insurgency. While their actions drew attention to inequality, they also contributed to the period of violent conflict in Guatemala. The EGP eventually disbanded as part of peace efforts and political reforms.
