Eight Principles of Farming
The Eight Principles of Farming, developed by Masanobu Fukuhara, are guidelines for natural and sustainable agriculture. They include minimal soil disturbance (no excessive plowing), maintaining soil cover with plant matter, using diverse plantings to promote balance, avoiding synthetic chemicals, promoting natural pest control, ensuring farm resilience, respecting natural ecosystems, and integrating farming with natural processes. Together, these principles aim to work harmoniously with nature, reduce environmental impact, improve soil health, and create a sustainable, fruitful farming system that requires less intervention and supports biodiversity.
