Egyptian Church History

Egyptian Church history begins with Christianity’s arrival in the 1st century, traditionally linked to Saint Mark. It developed its own identity, forming the Coptic Orthodox Church, which became the dominant Christian community in Egypt. Over centuries, it faced Muslim Arab rule, periods of persecution, and schisms. Despite challenges, the Coptic Church preserved its liturgical traditions and religious identity. Today, it remains one of the oldest Christian communities, representing Egypt’s rich religious heritage and contributing significantly to its culture and history.
