Ego and Id
The Ego and Id are concepts from psychoanalytic theory that describe parts of our personality. The Id is the unconscious, instinct-driven part that seeks immediate pleasure and gratification without considering consequences. The Ego is the conscious, rational part that moderates these impulses, balancing desires with reality and social norms. Essentially, the Id wants what feels good now, while the Ego tries to find realistic ways to satisfy these desires without causing problems. Together, they shape our behavior by balancing instinctual urges with practical considerations.
