EER (Energy Efficiency Ratio)

The Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) measures how efficiently an air conditioning unit consumes electricity to cool a space. It is calculated by dividing the cooling output (measured in British Thermal Units, or BTUs) by the amount of electricity it uses (in watts). A higher EER indicates a more energy-efficient unit, meaning it provides more cooling for less electricity. This helps consumers understand which models will save energy and reduce utility bills, especially in environments where cooling needs are consistent. Essentially, EER is a useful indicator of the unit’s operating efficiency under specific test conditions.
