
Edwin James
Edwin James was an American botanist, geologist, and explorer in the 19th century. He is best known for leading the first scientific expedition to explore the southwestern United States, including parts of the Rockies and the Grand Canyon, between 1820 and 1821. James documented many new plant and animal species during his travels, contributing significantly to American natural history. His detailed writings and collections helped expand scientific knowledge of the American West. He also served as a professor and contributed to the development of botanical and geological sciences in the United States.
