Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr. is an American astronaut and engineer best known for being the lunar module pilot on Apollo 11, the first mission to land humans on the Moon in 1969. He, along with Neil Armstrong and Michael Collins, played a key role during the historic spaceflight. Aldrin was also a trained fighter pilot and military officer before his NASA career. His contributions helped advance space exploration, and he is celebrated as one of the first humans to set foot on the lunar surface. After his NASA career, he remained active in promoting space science and exploration initiatives.
