Edward VIII

Edward VIII was King of the United Kingdom for less than a year in 1936. He is best known for abdicating the throne to marry Wallis Simpson, an American divorcée, which was controversial at the time. His decision challenged royal traditions and caused a constitutional crisis. After abdication, his younger brother became King George VI, and Edward was given the title Duke of Windsor. Despite his brief reign, Edward's willingness to choose love over duty significantly impacted the monarchy's history and public perception.
