Edward H. Angle was a pioneering American orthodontist, often called the father of modern orthodontics. He developed the first comprehensive classification system for malocclusions (misaligned teeth and jaws), which remains fundamental in diagnosing dental issues today. Angle also founded the first specialized orthodontic school in 1899, advancing orthodontic education and research. His work laid the groundwork for techniques used in correcting dental and jaw alignment, significantly shaping the practice of orthodontics and improving oral health and aesthetics for countless patients.
