Edomites
The Edomites were an ancient people descended from Esau, the brother of Jacob (Israel), and lived southeast of Israel, in an area called Edom. Historically, they interacted with neighboring groups—including conflicts and alliances—over many centuries. The Edomites are mentioned in biblical texts, and their territory was eventually conquered by various empires, such as the Babylonians and the Romans. Today, they are considered part of the ancient history of the Middle East, with their descendants often associated with modern groups in that region.
