Edith Frank (née Holländer)
Edith Frank, born Edith Holländer, was the wife of Otto Frank and the mother of Margot and Anne Frank. Born in 1914 in Germany, she moved to the Netherlands with her family to escape anti-Semitic persecution. Edith was known for her dedication to family and her modest, caring nature. During World War II, she and her family hid from the Nazis in a secret annex. Tragically, Edith died of starvation in Auschwitz concentration camp in 1945, shortly before the camp's liberation. Her life and story are often remembered through her daughter Anne’s famous diary, which documents their experiences and hopes amidst suffering.
