Ed Roberts

Ed Roberts was a pioneering American engineer and disability rights advocate, known for his work in improving accessibility and assistive technologies for people with disabilities. After becoming a wheelchair user due to childhood polio, he dedicated his life to expanding opportunities and fostering independence for disabled individuals. Roberts was a key figure in the development of early computer technology and played a significant role in establishing the University of California, Berkeley’s Disabled Students' Program. His efforts helped transform societal attitudes toward disability and contributed to the modern movement for disability rights and accessible design.
