Eculizumab

Eculizumab is a medication that helps protect the body from certain types of immune system attacks. It works by blocking a part of the immune system called complement protein, which, when overactive, can cause diseases like atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) and some rare blood disorders. By preventing this overreaction, eculizumab reduces tissue damage and helps improve symptoms. It is administered through intravenous infusions, typically every few weeks, and is used for specific conditions where controlling immune activity is crucial.
