ECoG (Electrocorticography)
Electrocorticography (ECoG) is a medical technique that records electrical activity directly from the surface of the brain. Surgeons place small electrodes on or just beneath the skull to monitor brain signals with high precision. This method helps identify critical areas involved in functions like speech, movement, or sensation, especially before brain surgery. Because it captures brain activity more accurately than non-invasive methods, ECoG is valuable for diagnosing conditions such as epilepsy and guiding surgical treatments while minimizing risks to essential brain functions.
