Eastern Brown Pelican
The Eastern Brown Pelican is a large waterbird found along the southeastern coast of Australia. Recognizable by its long, curved beak and expansive throat pouch used for catching fish, it often soars in groups over lakes, rivers, and coastal waters. It primarily feeds by diving into the water from heights to catch fish, and sometimes cooperates with others during feeding. These pelicans nest in colonies on trees or islands, laying eggs that hatch into chicks covered with down. They are an important part of their ecosystem, helping control fish populations and maintaining healthy aquatic environments.
