Eastern Black Bear

The Eastern Black Bear (Ursus americanus), also known as the American black bear, is a medium-sized mammal native to eastern North America. They have black fur, though some can be brown or cinnamon, and a distinctive face with a straight or slightly curved nose. They are omnivorous, feeding on berries, nuts, insects, and small animals, and are excellent climbers. Typically solitary, they play important roles in their ecosystems by dispersing seeds and controlling insect populations. Eastern Black Bears adapt to forests, swamps, and mountains but are generally shy around humans. They are protected species and managed through conservation efforts.
