East Asian Economic Caucus
The East Asian Economic Caucus was a proposed regional cooperation initiative in the late 1960s and early 1970s aimed at strengthening economic ties among East Asian countries, particularly Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and others. It sought to promote trade, investment, and development cooperation to boost economic growth and stability in the region. However, the idea faced political and strategic challenges, especially regarding Japan’s role and regional dynamics, and it never fully materialized into an official economic bloc. Instead, countries continued to pursue bilateral agreements and other regional partnerships to achieve similar goals.
