EarthScope Project
The EarthScope Project is an ambitious scientific initiative that studies the structure and movement of Earth's interior and surface. By deploying thousands of sensors and instruments across North America, it monitors tectonic activity, earthquakes, volcanic activity, and the Earth's crust changes over time. These data help scientists better understand how our planet's interior and surface interact, ultimately improving earthquake prediction, informing hazard mitigation, and advancing knowledge of Earth's geological processes. EarthScope's findings benefit society by enhancing safety, infrastructure resilience, and our comprehension of Earth's dynamic systems.
