Earth Lodge
An Earth Lodge is a traditional type of dwelling used by certain Native American tribes, especially the Plains tribes. It is constructed with a framework of wooden logs or poles shaped into a dome or cone, then covered with a thick layer of earth and grass for insulation and protection. Inside, Earth Lodges provided a warm, durable, and sustainable home suitable for extended family groups. These structures were often communal, serving social, cultural, and spiritual functions, and reflected a deep connection to the land and environment.
