Earth-centric model

The Earth-centric model, also known as the geocentric model, is an ancient understanding that places Earth at the universe’s center. According to this view, the Sun, Moon, stars, and planets all move around Earth in circular paths. This model was used for centuries to explain celestial observations before scientific advancements showed that Earth is just one planet orbiting the Sun. While it accurately described some motions observable at the time, it was eventually replaced by the heliocentric model, which correctly identifies the Sun as the center of our solar system.
