Early Goal-Directed Therapy
Early Goal-Directed Therapy (EGDT) is a medical approach used to treat severe infections like sepsis. It involves rapidly assessing a patient’s vital signs and blood tests within the first hours of hospital arrival. The goal is to optimize blood pressure, heart function, and blood flow by administering fluids, medications, or other interventions to ensure organs receive enough oxygen. This targeted, proactive approach aims to stabilize the patient quickly, improving chances of recovery and reducing complications by addressing the underlying problems early on.
