Ear
The ear is the sensory organ responsible for hearing and balance. It captures sound waves from the environment, which travel through the outer ear canal to the eardrum, causing it to vibrate. These vibrations are transmitted via small bones in the middle ear to the fluid-filled cochlea in the inner ear, where they are converted into electrical signals by nerves. The brain then interprets these signals as sound. Additionally, the inner ear contains structures that help maintain balance and spatial orientation, allowing us to stay upright and coordinate movements.
