E. Scott Geller's Safety Performance Model
E. Scott Geller's Safety Performance Model explains that safe behavior results from three key factors: an individual's motivation to be safe, their knowledge about safety procedures, and the opportunities they have to act safely. When people are motivated, well-informed, and able to demonstrate safe behaviors, accidents decrease. Conversely, if motivation drops, safety knowledge is lacking, or safe behaviors aren’t supported, risky actions are more likely. The model emphasizes that safety is a proactive, shared responsibility involving personal attitude, awareness, and environment, all working together to promote accident-free work and life settings.
