E region

The E region is a layer of Earth's atmosphere located about 85 to 120 kilometers above the surface. It contains ionized particles created by sunlight, making it a part of the ionosphere. This layer impacts radio communications by reflecting certain radio waves back to Earth, enabling long-distance signals. The E region varies with the time of day, seasons, and solar activity, influencing how well radio signals travel. It plays a key role in atmospheric chemistry and communication systems, acting as a bridge between the lower atmosphere and higher ionospheric layers.
