E-meter

An E-meter, short for electropsychometer, is a device used by Scientologists during auditing sessions. It measures tiny electrical changes in the skin, called galvanic skin responses, which can indicate emotional or mental state shifts. The idea is that certain thoughts or feelings cause measurable skin conductivity changes, helping the auditor identify areas needing attention. While it doesn't read minds, the E-meter acts as a feedback tool to guide the auditing process. It's important to note that the E-meter's effectiveness and scientific validity are widely disputed outside of Scientology.
